In response to the three thermostats in the gallery space, Reading Condition (Honeywell) is a site specific installation that questions the production of the physical and experiential condition of viewership. Where temperature is regulated for a certain neutrality, I looked up the etymology of the word, temperature, and its usual qualifiers—optimum, average, and ideal from the Oxford English Dictionary. These were screen-printed onto acrylic sheets and placed underneath the thermostats.
